"Lembranças vestigiais
derretendo até o nada
Palavras vão ainda mais longe do que a luz"
"Vestigial Memories
melting into nothingness.
Words go even further than the light"
Pray for a slumber, they said, pray for a slumber under the quietude of the valley night. Pray for those who were once immortal, pray for their downfall and that realization it'd ensure. Go on praying, so that Death -- the liberator of dreams -- might at last rein in His chariot. The craft of forgetting is also a panacea to those solid glyphs engraved upon all streams of visions pouring into our eyes, like purple-golden air -- that unbearable burden of remembrance. Pray for the Emptiness, so that it might draw full circle, yet the secrets would remain hidden for another eternity -- from us only -- like the traces of the fallen stars in the dwellings of the Old -- in communion or alone. So pray to the Old, they said, so that through Torment our Past might be revealed: Absences, Secrets, and Remnants; interwoven threads of words permeate the ruined layers of Time. Vestiges of Three, exceed the worlds; Falsehood shields the Truth.
This is arguably one of the most exciting debuts of 2023. The extremely prolific and talented Brazilian riff magician Caio Lemos (Kaatayra, Vauruvã, Bríi) once again presents to us an opus full of brilliantly written passages that are inspired by his rainforest dreamland and its introspective charm. Vestígios is perhaps the most metaphysical work of his oeuvre -- in terms of lyrics, themes, and its collaborative nature -- inviting three vocalists from the Brazilian underground, whose distinct styles and lyrics provide each of the three tracks a versatility that complements the unconstrained scope of their songwriting: traces (or indeed, vestiges) of Black Metal, Brazilian traditional folk, Post-rock, and techno once again converge into one deluge of furor. An absolute gem of Folk-inspired BM.
This January, Pest Productions will release this great debut as Digipak CD, limited to 300 copies. A must-have for fans of his previous work/projects. Highly recommended!

Hands down one of the most unique black metal albums ever. But honestly, calling it just "black metal" is a disservice to this piece of art. The seamless mixture of black metal with Brazilian folk and even some ambient and psychedelic bits is second to none. One of the best all around metal experiences you can ever hope to have. Ryan
From the same mastermind behind Kaatayra and Bríi comes Vauruvã, an atmospheric black metal project in similar folksome fashion, just a lot of more aggressive. I am a fan of the style of music this guys puts out. 7/10 RJ
